Abacus Tutors
Sanni Keskimaki, founder of Abacus Tutoring, is a Learning Resources Coordinator at Lakeside School where she teaches study skills, organizational strategies, math and other academic subjects to students. Prior to teaching at Lakeside, she worked as a middle and intermediate school math teacher at The Evergreen School, a school dedicated to meeting the needs of the highly capable student. She has been tutoring students in math, writing, test preparation, and organizational skills for the past fifteen years. When she is not tutoring, Sanni can be found surfing, hiking, reading, or training her Australian Shepherd in the fun sport of dog agility and canine scent training.
Kian Flynn graduated from Carleton College in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. After graduating from Carleton, he moved back to the Northwest and served as an AmeriCorps youth tutor for the non-profit Neighborhood House in Auburn. With the Neighborhood House after-school youth tutoring program, he helped K-12 students with homework in all their courses and provided academic coaching. He is starting graduate coursework in Library and Information Science at the University of Washington this fall. In his free time, Kian enjoys long-distance running, cycling, and backpacking.
Miranda Lahman is a energetic graduate student pursuing a PhD at the University of Washington in Molecular Medicine and Mechanisms of Disease (M3D). Prior to seeking graduate education, Miranda attended Western Washington University where she also ran track and field and cross country for the vikings. Throughout her time at WWU she helped fellow teammates and students with their biology and writing assignments. After graduating Cum Laude, she moved down to Seattle to work at a small company developing DNA sequencing technology and continued to tutor writing and chemistry intermittently. In her spare time, you can find her in the mountains running, climbing, biking, exploring the wonderful PNW, or getting crafty at home.
Aurora Smedley graduated from UC Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in Geophysics, and went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University before changing careers. She has been tutoring middle and high school students in math and sciences, as well as experience teaching English as a Second Language in China. A talented songwriter and vocalist, she is currently a student of Music Performance and Production at Shoreline College. Her additional pursuits include backpacking, ultrarunning, and gardening.
